What is Random Acts of Giving?
RAofG will be open in June and December of each year.

Who gets to give gifts?
You must have qualified for level 2 or 3 of the gift exchange to give gifts. I want to make sure that those who are giving understand how the gift exchange works, are established community members with a clear grasp of the game, and will give nice gifts. I was worried about people sending just random nonsense because they did not really understand what the RAoG page was or was for.

Who receives gifts?
Anyone who submits a wishlist and makes less than 250k weekly showing bonus can receive gifts. This number might be adjusted in the future but I was worried about there not being enough people to give to. You can submit a wishlist by signing up for the gift exchange at any level, OR by submitting just a wishlist on the RAoG page. (To prevent cheating, associated accounts will never be assigned to one another.)

Is my person reserved?
Lots of people can have the same recipient at the same time. That way if get an assignment and something comes up you don't have to feel bad. You did not stop them from getting gifts.

How many assignments can I have?
As many as you want. Don't vibe with someone's wish list? Get a new assignment. Want to send 10,000 hbs to every single person who qualified? No problem just keep getting new assignments. Want to only give to tiny newbie accounts? No problem just keep getting new assignments until you find someone you want to gift to.


GE updates sneak peak:
RAoG is also using the new straw/egg, horsebuck, and updated horse-giving features. You can look forward to using these in the gift exchange as well. Not only can you send items right on the GE page, it will keep track of these, displaying what has been sent, and create a chat message alerting the recipient that they were sent something.

Send something outside the RAoG page? No problem, just let the person know you sent it in the message window.

Bug Notes: Over the past several weeks I have done mountains of updates to the gift exchange and created Random Acts of Giving. I have done my best effort to make sure things are bug-free but it is difficult for me to try out all possible situations. Belton spotting is a new hypothetical gene based on a real-life phenotype in horses called belton spotting. There is a link between belton spotting and white marking suppression. It also seems to have a link to the tobiano gene. The exact mechanisms are unknown.

I have added to the game a gene called "pigment density regulator" with the allele Bl (for belton). Horses with the Bl allele will have reduced white markings and freckles of pigment breaking through their white markings. Hom. belton has more freckles than het. The presence of tobiano increases the number of freckles and hom. tobiano has an even great impact.

It only creates freckles into pinto markings but because it increases pigment density it does have an impact on appy markings wich are pigment density sensitive.

Belton has no restrictions or licenses.

How do you get it?
Belton can now be purchased for 5 USD a copy. It can also be obtained via the GMT lab for five tokens a copy. If you are very lucky you can create a copy. Belton spotting is pretty darn rare in real life, so it is not very common in random creates.

What is jewel box?
Jewel box is a new "hypothetical" gene. It is not flagged as a fantasy gene because it does not look unrealistic and could occure, but there is also nothing suggesting something like jewel box is real. Jewel box is our second tobiano modifier gene. It changes how tobiano presents on the horse.

Jewel box will normal tobiano colored areas into lacey constellations just like the actual jewel box cluster in the night sky.

How do you get it?
Jewel box requires a license. You must either purchase a copy for one of your horses on the "Buy Rare Genes" tab, or purchase a license for it and purchase some genetics from another player. It is not available in the GMT lab.

I have been doing a lot of updates on the exchange this year, here is a super brief rundown.

Assignments:
-The exchange will make sure players who have blocked one another can't be assigned together on the exchange.
-The system is now smart enough to prevent two players from gifting to each other in the same level AND in different levels.

Gifting:
-Breed names, breeding, and sales records are all fully hidden on gift horses.
-you can now send HBs via the exchange
-you can now send straws and eggs via the exchange
-The GE page will show you right away anything you have already been sent via the exchange.

Anonymous gifting is coming:
-A page will appear once this feature is ready in the seasonal bin of the navigation
-Any member who is level 2 or 3 of the exchange, even if they are not signed up this year, will be able to give gifts to random players on the game.
-If you are signed up for the exchange, OR if you fill out a wishlist on the anonymous gifting form, AND you make less than 250k weekly income your wishlist could be chosen at random by another member to send you a gift.
-Keep in mind setup won't have tons of bells and whistles just yet. First off the generation time for tobi has been cut in half. It is still not a fast gene because it is so complicated to generate but there has been a considerable speed improvement.

This time our end-of-year festivities are themed around the poem "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear". The poem was written in 1849 by Edmund Sears during a time of war and revolution in the world. It reminds us that the song of peace and hope is still singing even if we are struggling to hear it right now.

This year we have ten new herd helpers inspired by poem and themes of peace. Midnight Clear, Songs of Old, Harps of Gold and Solemn And Still come from the poem. Doves, mistletoe, olive branches, and white poppies are all symbols of peace. Finally, Shadow of Mars reflects the looming presence of the god of war. All the new herd helpers are exceptionally perfect except for Midnight Clear.

In keeping with our Midnight Clear theme, we also have three brand new spacey genes. Please note this is NOT the formal announcement for these genes. This is just a sneak peek so you can keep these in mind for your gift exchange wishlist and shopping plans.

Belton spotting in a hypothetical gene. It does not require a license and is not fantasy. It will be creatable and in the GMT lab. It suppresses white markings and adds freckle spots to white areas of the coat. It gets really spotty with tobiano but can show up on other pinto patterns.

Jewel Box is named for the Jewel Box star cluster. It is a new Tobiano Modifier variant and turns the dark areas of tobiano into a lovely stellar cloud of roany, lacy textures. It does require a license but is not a fantasy gene.

Void turns all markings pure black. It is far more aggressive than wrong warp and can turn all markings black including roan, phantom markings and varnish. It has no warping and no blue edges. It requires a liscense, and is a fantasy gene.

Again please remember this is only a teaser. I won't be giving further examples of these genes in this post. You will have to wait for them to fully launch.
