New players may or may not have noticed mention of the Random Acts of Giving that will be happening in June. All growing/young/new players should take advantage of signing up. Signup is found under the Seasonal section in the left sidebar.

Basically you make a wishlist of in-game gifts that would be nice to receive. Breeding horses, show horses, barns, HB donations, etc. It is a good idea to have a list that includes inexpensive small things, but large items are ok too. Make the list unique to what you need and your goals.

This is the first month that we have done random acts of giving only, so I am not sure if established players will want to spend real life $ or not. If you have a small real life money item to add to your wishlist I think it would be ok to add it, but don't have too high of expectations that you will receive it.

In June the random acts of giving will open up to all players on the server and your wishlists will become public for other players to see what you're asking for. Players can then choose to send gifts to you if they can provide something you would like. It is a great way to receive some stuff for free out from the generosity of other players!

I've not really paid much attention to this otherwise, and have bred random eras to random eras fairly willy-nilly in the past.

I think I understand the advantages to an era-based breeding program to make sure I'm grouping horses where they'll be most competitive as far as the era awards go. Are there advantages beyond awards to keeping like with like here?

If I wanted to convert my "anything goes right now as long as it's 0% inbred" program into a no-inbreeding era-based program, what's the best way to go about doing that?
Introducing my newest breed the Katalouse sport horse, it is based off of the Nez Perce Appaloosa. There are three types of Appaloosa in modern times, the first of course is that which the Nez Perce Nation cultivated and it is the oldest of the Appaloosa breeds, these horses were of Asian origin and are the foundation of all the Appaloosa horses today.
The foundation stock were more pony like and they featured the gait known as the Indian shuffle and these Appys had sparse to fine mains and tails and they were not very friendly either, but the Nez Perce Indians work with their prize mounts until they got a more agreeable natured horse that kept the best traits of the original breed that the Lewis and Clark expedition saw and reported on, when they first came to the American territories.
As time went on the Appaloosa got a more stock horse type look and that brings us to the second type of Appaloosa that most people think of. The modern Appaloosa had Quarter horse blood added to the tapestry of the Appaloosa breed, this Appaloosa has more of the American Quarter Horse body type and may not have the Indian shuffle gait that the founding stock had.
Now for the third type of Appaloosa and the one that my new Katalouse is based on, the Nez Perce Elders wanted to bring some of their traditional ways back to teach their children of the past that they once had so long ago, so they started breeding their beloved Appaloosa again, but the herd was so small and the tribe feared that using the limited stock of Appaloosa they had would make the herd weak, so the tribe looked for outside studs to help keep the herd healthy and vital. The tribe could have brought Appaloosa of the more modern type to the herd, but they wanted to keep the foundation and essences of the true Appaloosa from Chief Joseph's time alive, so in comes the Akhal Teke to the Appaloosa herd's rescue.
An Akhal Teke stud farm heard about the Nez Perce tribe's quest and wanted to help out and so this farm donated four or five Akhal Teke stallions to help the Nez Perce tribe bring back their beloved spotted horses and so the Akhal Teke type Appaloosa was formed. This type is some times called the Palouse to distinguish this type from the modern Appaloosa and so I decided to create the Katalouse in honor of this awesome looking Appaloosa. The Katalouse Sport Horse will look like the Akhal Teke but have the Appaloosa coat pattern and I will use the Akhal Teke(m) bc for my Katalouse Sport Horse.

Licensed genes: Mushroom, Dun factor promoter 2

Katalouse Foal Corp:
Year 45 E6: Foals
Year 48 E6: Foals
Year 49 E6: Foals

Is there such a thing as a blue hen mare -- the ones that seem to give you a good foal that passes basic breeding advice every single year? (Some kind of a "hidden stat", perhaps?)

And conversely, are there total duds who seem to throw foals that never pass, every single year?

Or is this mere coincidence?

Related, are there certain combinations of mare/stallion that are simply likely to never give you a foal that passes BA, no matter how many times you try it?

Excited to show off my first "big" season as far as club awards! For context, I've been playing since June 24, 2024 and have been lucky enough to show some generously-gifted show horses from a number of players who have earned ribbons and trophies in club standings over the past few seasons, but it's exciting to have some of my own homebreds make it into the standings this season.

And of course I had to immediately go and play with their ribbons because this is what you do, right?

SBKr2 Clear Blu Sky 62

SBKr2 Dun Cleaned 45

SBKr2 New Ghost 50

SBKr2 Honey Blu

Wow! Blown away by this months showing and I have to say make sure you are entering EVERY SINGLE HORSE into the clubs. Go back through on the 27th and check every club and enter those that qualify.

Why?
These are what I earned, and some are in clubs I don’t actively breed for!

So you just never know, you might have some winners you aren’t aware you had.

33 Most Points foundations, 63 GMTs
34 Most Points 2nd Gen, 66 GMTs
78 Most Points Lined, 166 GMTs

You can get more precise if you have the time and inclination. After you enter everything, go back and check each club to see if you have any that have nothing in the top 3 ( or nothing in the top 25). If you have nothing in the top 25, remove all your horses and see if they show better in other clubs. I especially check the bigger clubs like Black, Bay, Brown, etc.

Also, make sure you are showing ALL your horses every week. Put on auto if you aren’t on everyday. I have a system to rotate my pasture horses to get trained as well.
I probably spend more time on here than most, but it is an escape from reality for me. :D
