Somatic Tattoos and Gene Mods

When you modify a horse, the modifications show up under somatic tattoos. If you remove those tattoos, does it affect the gene mods at all?

Just as an FYI - removing the gene mods tattoos can cause problems. We've had people who paid (tokens) for gene mods and the only way to prove it was via the tattoos.
