I have an era 8 horse that I think would look great with the storm cloud gene but he is a chirmera and also isn’t the current era. Do you think it’s worth it or should I keep looking for a different horse to put it on

You can change the inheritance chance of a chimera that he would only pass along DNA from 1 particular strand. So you could adjust that to make the strand that carries the storm cloud the strand that he would pass on to his foals 100% of the time giving them a 50% chance of getting storm cloud instead of a 25% chance.

If you personally have plans that you would use him extensively then the gene is worth it. As a general rule I don't plan on any stallions with licensed genes to be super popular with the public because you are limited to only license holders. Since storm cloud is a new gene the license holder pool will be small initially.
