Testing cross breeding
  • I don't know where to post this but Testing cross breeding auto spayed and gelded my horses and I'm mad I thought it would just test if it was a good horse to breed it didn't say it would do that I lost the ability to breed one of my favorite horses could you at least add a warning that horses that fail the test will be spayed cause how else was I supposed to know? I really don't see how I was supposed to know it would do that. But it feels unfair to take away the fertility without giving an actual warning.
  • Hey there! I’m sorry you lost a horse who’s genetics you like without realizing the testing would do that, however the testing is actually VERY useful in determining if the horse was a good breeding quality and I personally do not breed anything that doesn’t pass at the least basic breeding advice testing.

The breeding inspection test will give you a paper level for each horse without altering them but it alone isn’t a great way to know a horses true quality. I personally don’t paper any horses that have not passed breeding advice to save the HBs.

I highly recommend checking out the guide/ Q/A for tons of great information.

If you Can post a link to the horse maybe we can help identify why it didn’t pass the testing and find something similar that’s good breeding quality!

  • I only breed for beauty not good genetics thats why it bothers me. Like it could of maybe gave me the option and say gelding would be a good option but auto taking the fertility when I thought it would simply advise me if its a good horse to breed or not is extreme. Some people don't care about poor quality and just want pretty colors.
  • I see!

The user guide does say “Breeding Advice (BA) - will tell you if the horse will produce good foals, or not
Breeding Advice will AUTOMATICALLY spay or geld horses that do not meet the minimum standards for breeding quality.”

If you wanted to test them without risking altering I’d stick to PT testing, Color testing and breeding inspection only.

  • I just wish I was warned before testing the feature out is all like I saw nothing on there that said that would happen when I clicked that button.
  • If you have a GMT, (you can actually get them with the current candy pony event on the create page)
You can Unalter the horse in the GMT lab.

  • I kinda got rid of the horse too I didn't see a reason to keep it now that it wasn't useful for breeding.
  • Is it the horse I just purchased from you at auction?

  • Just to be clear the popup when you go to run this test says "Are you sure you wish to test if this is a good foal for this cross? Foals may be automatically altered. This test is free."

If you do not wish to breed for showing quality you do not have to use any testing.
