Best way to start a Project
-
Hello all, I have never done a breeding project in all the years I have played this game. How do you go about it? I created a new breed called Katabic and it will use both of the Arabian bcs, the light horse is the polish and the medium is the Crabbet. What HH is used most often for projects any advice would be very helpful, I plan on starting this project for 2026. Thanks, KatBlue Grass id#: 182429

HH that get used are the ones who have the genes you want for your project.
I did a project of an all boosted line a while back and I truly loved what it turned into.
I also did a project I didn't talk about and bred the first 15pt horse on this server.
I'm going to breed an era10 line and just see what happens. No real goals for it.
The best part about a project it can be whatever you want it to be, as simple or complex as you feel up for. -
I want to do horses the are solid colors with minimal white markings, I just don't what rank hh would be best.Blue Grass id#: 182429

HH ranks determine how many creates you get from it. If it's a perfect hh they are c/yellow papered= the very beginning. Exceptional= easier had better quality from the start. They will be B/Red papered, basically a second generation. Exceptional hh also will tell you if they'll do better at showing, producing.
I did a silver black line and I asked other players help create them and it took a lot to get enough of them to pass sba. Still love the color and it was fun have barns full of them.
You will maybe want to decide if at some point you'll be cloning them. Fancier genes means higher cost to clone. -
I love the idea of this project. I was actually thinking of doing a similar project at one point (kind of inspired by the real life Morgan breed). One fun thing about it is you probably don't need any fancy HH unless you want to because a lot of foundations are solid. I've been making a bunch of new creates every day using the riding pony Polish Arabian BC and I SBA test all and stick them in the auction if you want to browse through my primary barn (or see which ones end up in foundation rescue). If you'd rather have riding horses instead of ponies I'd be happy to switch to that since I'm not really keeping them (just looking for candy ponies) and I can keep an eye out for any specific colors you're interested in if you want!
