solved! Does even/uneven breeding matter?
  • Hi!

I think I might be overthinking this, but does keeping lines even (ex. G4 sire and G4 dam, then crossing the G5 offspring to another G5) make any difference in breeding and showing ability?

I'm going through a bit of a genetic bottleneck that's keeping my horses from going past certain stats, and was wondering if that could be an issue or just plain bad luck xP

    Thanks!!
i make a cent, boss makes a dime, so i play horse games on company time <3
  • The game has no way of knowing what generation you are breeding and it does not impact things at all. If you are breeding uneven ability though it can impact your intact rates.

It's not rare for players to hold there stallions to higher standards then their mares leading to mare lag, where the mares are actually much worse then the studs.

  • I am super guilty of the “mare lag” you mentioned. I tend to max the colts I decide to keep so they are top quality. I had a maxed mare for each generation I was using to compare with but only recently created the 2% boosted benchmarks. I tested my 2g herd and ended up having to alter over half… yikes! My intact % and quality has improved tons since.
