The pasture page is getting an update - Removing auto foal sellback? What do you think?
-
I know layout changes can cause stress and upset to some folks so I am giving people a heads up now that this is coming.
I willing be working on an update to the pasture page in the next week or two to make it easier to use, require less scrolling, and be more mobile friendly. It will end up looking more like the barn pages but have some additional functionality. It will no longer have the images, genetic papers or pedigree information listed. To see those you will need to open the pasture in the search.
That said I will be allowing some more bulk management options to be used in the pasture.
If you have any suggestions of things you want to see on a pasture page update, or comments about things you really don't want to see feel free to post them. (Before anyone asks no I will not be keeping the old pasture page as an option.)Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

I would really love to see 2 things added…
1) some sort of indication (maybe similar to the colors for breed clubs) for pastures that still have foals remaining in them.
2) an option closer to the top of the page to remove pasture foals.ID# 1180 -
Not sure this is possible, but an option to select which mares to breed to without needing to move mares out, and then back in and so on?
It just really helps a ton when I want mares to get that pasture boost but not need to be moved all the time when I need to use the pasture for other breeding.
(Or even this might be an option to have a pasture simply for mares to get that pasture bonus - a pasture that includes zero breeding?)
No clue, this is simply what I’ve noticed.
Thanks Ammit! Your idea will definitely make my life easier without having to scroll forever to get horses moved around. :)AmberHaven300 (she/her)

That's great news, thank you Ammit, it should really help with the loading times.
I have a suggestion for not exactly a pasture page, but pasture related, can you please sort available surrogate mares by the number of pasture days descending when implanting an embryo. Right now when I want to implant an embryo, it shows a drop down with random 1000 mares and they're not sorted. It would be more helpful if 30+ pasture days mares were on top.
Also, for the pasture page could you add a bulk Sell foals back to game button?
@AmberHaven300
you can implant an embryo without moving the mare to the barn. On the parent horse you need to go to Breeding tab, scroll down to the embryos section and click Implant. It will let you pick a surrogate mare. But the issue with that is that they're not sorted in a way where pasture mares are easily accessible. -
I am so happy to hear this Ammit! My scroll finger is worn out. I agree with the above, indicator for pasture foals (I miss the email most times).
Making it look closer to the barn page is going to be amazing. Thanks for all your hard work to keep us happy.Thanked by 1Ammit -
"Not sure this is possible, but an option to select which mares to breed to without needing to move mares out, and then back in and so on?"
That won't be possible. The whole idea of throwing a stallion in with a group of mares is that HE picks who he is breeding.
"I have a suggestion for not exactly a pasture page, but pasture related, can you please sort available surrogate mares by the number of pasture days descending when implanting an embryo. "
They are intentionally sorted reverse alphabetically. Making that change would screw up a lot of players programs. Most players ad a z or zz to their surrogate mares to move them to the top of the implant list and the bottom of the breeding lists.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Oh, so they're reversed sorted by name? That's awesome, I can work with that :D Thanks!

I finally had an aha moment on my pasture page.
A way to pull an egg or mass flush mares by selecting them? Then I don't have to go into each mares page. -
Gamete manipulation will always need to be done on the horse's own page. It's just way to complex to do in bulk.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I had to take a break from this project for the June event stuff but I am back too it.
I am considering removing the automatic foal sell back feature. I think most people don't use it and it causes more headache for players then benefits. Adding in a bulk option future would replace that functionality. What do you think? Are you cool with removing auto foal sell back?
What about the automatic breeding part? Does it make more sense to always have to push the button to create foals in the pasture? It would reduce server costs and make this update easier of that was the case.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I'm for the removal of the automatic pasture breeding, especially it helps with server costs. Ever so often I would mistakenly put a stallion in a pasture, then have happy little accidents. :D But I rather press the button when I need to.
The foal sell off feature was useful sometimes when I forgot the autmatic pasture, but the bulk option would be nice. -
I would love the foal sell back removal- I never utilize this and I have to do a check every season of all pastures to make sure I’m not accidentally leaving foals. I remove and sort all foals right after breeding the pastures.
As for the auto breeding, this wouldn’t affect me but I like it. I typically leave mares in pasture but remove studs and add them back + breed the pasture when I know I have time to sort.ID# 1180 -
Crazy idea…
Would an option to “bulk implant” embryos into pasture mares be an option? Thinking a button like the one you currently use to breed pasture that would implant all currently held embryos into that group of pasture mares.
I breed 80% w embryos and I definitely lose the most time individually implanting.ID# 1180 -
Im all for automatic removal with a bulk move option to a selected barn instead. I mostly use embryos and the pastures are just hanging out with the 30+ mares in them.
However, when I do use them, I do sometimes forget haha. Squirrel brain. -
Re embryos; this was asked on bluegrass before so here is a copy paste of my answer
"No. We are thinking about ways we might be able to do bulk embryos but they are going to have to go into a queue system to force them to slow down. If we let people breed 100 foals at once it would crash the servers."Need to contact me? Read this first.

I don't mind manually breeding a pasture and I prefer to not have automatic foal sell back. Auctioning foals is more profitable for an account anyway, if a player is selling their foals. I keep everything so I say do what is more cost effective for the business.

I’m in favor of no auto breeding or sell back!
