Your Current Breeding Project (Inspo needed)
-
What it says on the title - what are you breeding for right now? In need of some inspo and would love to give you some space to brag about your current special project! (Feel free to show off horses too!)
I'll be starting out very modest with my own: breeding for PT for show horses, and establishing lines from my own breed long-term. My biggest trouble is deciding whether to breed for light, medium, or heavy body type as they all look gorgeous and I want to keep those bloodlines separate.
I'll also be in trouble with choosing some colors to make standard in my breed so as I said, in need of some inspo XD I know it's a personal decision, but maybe seeing a particular idea or horse will blow my mind. -
Mostly I'm just messing around with tobiano and frame and some appy to get some fun, flashy color lines. (I will admit that I'm here for the playing with colors more than anything else, haha! Eventually, I'll dive more into the show horse side of things...)
I'm keeping my goals pretty non-specific for now, but I imagine down the line I'll pick out some more definite projects. -
I am working on chestnut and liver chestnut frame, but I keep getting distracted with roan, silver blue roan, and smoky blue roan. Sooo... I end up all over the map. lol
-
"Working on x and getting sidetracked" is 100% what I feel is going to be in my future as well :D

Oh, you need inspiration?? Welcome to the next episode of "What's Possible" for genetics! I love genetics both here and off game (I own a Frame Overo mare) and love to show combos that are possible. Strap in, I've got tons of unique ponies.
Most of these are stallions and mares, let me know if you would like any straws/eggs!First, my successful stallion Viper who is the culmination of what I've been aiming for: unique white on a dark base.

Omg @lilpebbles I don't even know where to start!! All of these horses are GORGEOUS and it's hard to choose just one favourite.
Universal MPC is GORGEOUS with that minimum white, and the sooty that gives her a burnt top coat.
I love the golden horses, the white 10 on darker horses, and the max whites!! I can totally imagine a line/breeding standard which goes for light horses, so either max white or cremello/max cream, like, hmmmm.
Heavy white on dark horses was not quite my thing UNTIL Hilliard Dreams, she just looks so damn pretty to me! Just that grey flecked coat with the warm-colored mane, chef's kiss. Also might have a heavy bias for the Crabbet Arabian BC.
Definitely taking notes and jotting down some ideas, thank you!!Thanked by 1lilpebbles -
I'm also working on building out my show herd! Well, right now, I'm more working on saving up to get another barn... but then, back to the show herd. I haven't been focusing on specific colors, although I have had quite a few turn out pearl because several of my show herd founders carry it.
Some of my favorite mares:
Hounded Stars - sooty bay Manchado with -/- Appaloosa and Gulastra plume
Artemis II - sooty + rabicano bay, looks just like her mom <3<br />
Stars Afire - black pearl sabino rabicano
A stallion I'm fond of (but should geld, realistically):
Rye and Swiss - brown pangare+ dun with splash
-
I breed riding horse body and "appaloosa" based patterns, and no KiT or Splash or Tob.
I breed Leopard Complex, LP Blanket Size, Lp Promoter, Snowflake Varnish, Varnish Regulator 2, Appaloosa Spot Regulator and the new Skewed.
Im not chasing the high PT with the maxing, cloning and boosting; I max and boost those that I want to keep to get that which isn't superior to dam or sire.
These are my newest grow up with the new skewed gene

I also love the Chimera and do try to breed for that as well.

Ahh Rusalka your mares are absolutely gorgeous!!
Corvus, I really love Same Tree and Orgin of the Quote, they are gorgeous!! I gotta admit I love a good chimera myself and I think I have one in my barn rn that I got when I was collecting points, so this is also definitely an idea.

I'm new but I really love Heavy / Drafts so far!
Genes I'm interested in so far have been:
- Silver
- Buckskin
- Champagne
- Sabino
- Roan
- White spotting
which is pretty broad now that I type it out... lol
-
I'm also new, and I find combinations of different pigment modifiers very interesting, like cream duns, cream champagnes etc.
I also recently fell in love with mushroom horses. -
I like breeding for the various appaloosa types and tobiano. I'm also experimenting with the dun factor promoters and platinum genes.
-
I've been away from the game for 6 months while I started a new job (and got a horse IRL in February) but I had several projects going. Genes required for each color combo are listed, question marks are for if the second allele doesn't matter. Genes not listed don't affect the phenotype.
Longest term was Silver Smoky Blue Roans:
Genes needed E/? a/a Cr/- Z/? S+/? R/? (can use normal sooty but sooty + adds those dapples)
Frame got added in somewhere from an outside mare whose colt became one of my herd sires. I don't recommend adding Frame, homozygous frame is lethal and wastes hbs you used for breeding that foal.
O6 0 Smokin Bullet
The stallion I bought a little over 3 years ago that started the entire line:
AH2 Chosen Aria
I have started other projects playing with Silver Smoky Grullo with sabino:
Genes needed E/? a/a Cr/- D/? Z/? S+/? R/? SB1/?
O5 8 3684623
Most recent project: Powder White Liver Red Dun
e/e agouti doesn't matter D/? DFP2/? DP/? PW/?
O3 9 Opalite
I just reorganized my barns so I will be starting all new projects with the new era, possibly carrying on some past projects in the background.Thanked by 1Rusalka -
I've been breeding era 9 horses to see if I can work my way up the leaderboards from foundation stock. I also have a lighthearted fantasy medieval theme, as my breed is the "Camelot Royal" breed. Golden tones, greys, flashy patterns (especially LP), full white, and high sooty are all colors I aim for in the breed. I also have a naming convention based on the way IRL Kladruber horses are named, as I really enjoy learning about all sorts of old baroque breeds. I started with almost only drafts but I now breed all bone weights, especially since the introduction of the Crabbet Arabian BC.
A favorite recent high sooty is this stallion:
Ater Decadence I 20
I absolutely love snowflakes:
Candori
Fewspot appies are great for safely and reliably producing nearly full white horses as well:
Solinvicta 22
Very nice blend of dilutions:
